THE BRIEF

Initiatives from governmental, business, financial and civil society all converged to discuss the importance and delivery of better hydro and ultimately, better development for all.  The high-level event which was opened by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, was attended by more than 600 international representatives from the Hydropower industry and charted the course for hydropower development and operations over the coming decade, with the aim of ensuring reliable and resilient water and energy systems for everyone.


The 2017 congress ran for 5 days, with the first 2 days comprised of a series of specialist meetings and workshops and the additional 3 'main' days playing host to over 140 speakers, across 26 sessions, several meetings and associated events including the official opening and closing formal dinners.

THE RESULTS

In May 2017, for the first time ever in Africa, the IHA hosted the sixth biennial ‘World Hydropower Congress’, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in partnership with:
